Sulfur Hexafluoride Gas Density Transmitter: An Important Gas Measurement Device

Function of Sulfur Hexafluoride Gas Density Transmitter

The SF6 gas density transmitter is a device used to measure the concentration of sulfur hexafluoride gas. It can convert the concentration of SF6 gas into a standard electrical signal and output it. This signal can be used to monitor and control the concentration of SF6 gas.

Working Principle of the Sulfur Hexafluoride Gas Density Transmitter

The SF6 gas density transmitter is based on the ideal gas law (PV=nRT). It uses built-in pressure and temperature sensors to collect gas parameters in real time. Through a temperature compensation algorithm, the actual pressure value measured at the current temperature is converted to the equivalent pressure at a standard temperature of 20℃ (i.e., density value) and then converted into a 4-20mA current signal or RS485 digital signal output. This allows for precise measurement of SF6 gas density, ensuring that the measurement results are not affected by ambient temperature fluctuations.

Features of the Gas Density Transmitter

High-Precision Measurement with Temperature Compensation

  • Eliminates environmental interference: The pressure measurement value is automatically converted to the equivalent density value at a standard temperature of 20℃, completely eliminating the impact of ambient temperature fluctuations on the measurement results.

  • Full-range linearization: It calculates in real time based on the ideal gas equation, ensuring the density indication value is highly consistent with the true value within a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +80℃.

High-Reliability Design

The SF6 gas density transmitter uses a fully sealed metal housing combined with a high-precision sealing process. With a protection level of IP65, it is effectively dustproof and waterproof, making it suitable for harsh outdoor environments. It can resist long-term corrosion from SF6 gas and industrial environmental factors such as acids, alkalis, and salt fog. Its service life is significantly longer than traditional structures, greatly reducing maintenance costs and leakage risks.

Intelligent Digital Output

  • Standard signal interface: Supports 4-20mA analog, Modbus RTU digital output, and is compatible with mainstream measurement and control systems. Custom communication protocols and interface solutions can be provided according to customer needs.

Wide Application Range

The gas density transmitter is suitable for many different gases and environments, able to meet various operational needs.

Application of Sulfur Hexafluoride Gas Density Transmitter

The SF6 gas density transmitter is primarily used in the power industry for the density monitoring and control of SF6 gas in high-voltage electrical equipment such as GIS (Gas-Insulated Switchgear), circuit breakers, and transformers. By accurately measuring the SF6 gas density in sealed containers in real time, this device can effectively warn of gas leakage risks and ensure the stability of equipment insulation performance and arc-quenching capability. It is a crucial component of the power system's safety monitoring system.

In summary, the SF6 gas density transmitter plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of the power grid and enhancing equipment reliability as a core component of power equipment status monitoring.
